HS2 completes major A43 works during twin weekend closures

Download new photos showing the site near Brackley, Northamptonshire, where HS2 engineers have realigned the A43 across a new bridge
The bridge is being delivered using a top-down construction method, with the structure built at ground level, before the earth is excavated to create space for the trains to pass underneath.

Northbound carriageway was closed and realigned on 11-12th July followed by the southbound carriageway on 18-19th July. The multi-stage approach was designed to reduce disruption for drivers and avoid the British Grand Prix.

The first closure affects the M42 J5A to 7 northbound, and J6 to 7 southbound. The closure is from 9pm on Friday, 26^th June to 5am on Monday, 29^th June 2026
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow approved diversion routes
