High-tech HS2 train depot and control centre deal provides jobs boost for Birmingham
11 May 2026- Download images showing how the high-tech Rolling Stock Depot and Network Integrated Control Centre will look once complete, what the site looks like now, and recent drone footage of the site at Washwood Heath, Birmingham.
- Around a thousand permanent jobs expected to be created at the depot and land freed up for development around the edges of the 70-hectare brown-field site. Plus around 500 construction jobs during the build of the facility.
- Contract award comes as HS2 undergoes a comprehensive reset to ensure the project is delivered efficiently and to the lowest reasonable cost.

Progress on HS2’s Curzon Street station as new images are released

HS2 completes deck assembly for Coleshill viaducts
11 Feb 2026- View and embed new drone footage showing the Coleshill East and West viaducts between the M6 and M42 in Warwickshire.
- Engineers working for HS2 have installed more than a thousand concrete deck segments to form the 600m long viaducts across the B4114 (Birmingham Road) and the flood plain of the river Cole. Download new photos.

Huge HS2 bridge move completed in Birmingham four days ahead of schedule
21 Aug 2025- HS2 engineers have moved a 1,631 tonne steel bridge into place over Lawley Middleway in Birmingham four days ahead of schedule
- This is the next step in building the one mile stretch of five connected viaducts bringing high-speed trains into Birmingham Curzon Street Station

- The 112m long structure will be moved during night-time operations
- The section will form part of the one mile stretch of five connected viaducts bringing high-speed trains into Curzon Street Station
