HS2 releases hundreds of new job opportunities in the West Midlands

Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV), HS2’s construction partner for the West Midlands, has announced it has hundreds of new jobs to fill across its supply chain.

With local job vacancies ranging from apprenticeships, to site operatives and office-based support roles, BBV is encouraging residents to step forward and consider a career in construction.

The opportunities will be promoted at BBV’s jobs fair, which will be held on Wednesday, 17 November at the Free@last Youth and Community Centre in Nechells, Birmingham. The event starts and 0930 and closes at 14:00.

BBV and its suppliers are particularly keen to hear from people who are out of work or looking to develop their skills, as free training opportunities are also available.

Shilpi Akbar, Head of Stakeholders and Communities at Balfour Beatty VINCI said:

“As well as finding out about all our latest vacancies, we’ll be sharing details of the free training and support available to help candidates to get ‘job-ready’ for HS2.

“With a ten-year construction programme ahead of us, there’s never been a more exciting or rewarding time to get onboard and discover what a career in construction can offer.”

From its new Skills Academy in Bordesley Green, BBV will be delivering free construction skills training courses which provide nationally recognised accreditation. The courses are tailored to meet everyone’s needs and cater for those with or without previous industry experience.

Julie Venn-Morton, HS2’s Skills Manager for the West Midlands said:

“HS2’s arrival is spearheading a jobs and skills revolution across the region.

“BBV is not only seeking to recruit local talent, but also investing in delivering training and support packages to provide local people with the skills they need to secure a long and meaningful career in the sector.”
