On the first day of Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone [Tuesday 1 June] HS2 Ltd outlines how the project’s new low-carbon technology will support Birmingham City Council’s objective to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the city.

HS2 Minister Andrew Stephenson MP in Birmingham to celebrate crucial deal with contractor Mace Dragados, and see a showcase of the green construction technology that will be used to cut carbon on the project.

HS2 Ltd today confirmed that a team made up of Mace and Dragados will build Birmingham’s new city centre high speed railway station, in a deal that is set to further boost the West Midlands economy.

HS2 Ltd has earned the accolade of becoming the only organisation in the UK to have achieved the Clear Assured Platinum Standard accreditation. It received the award in recognition of its commitment to embedding inclusive best practice into all elements of its work, including the design and delivery of Britain’s new railway.
