HS2 reveals ambitious plans to create one of the largest areas of chalk grassland on the edge of the Chilterns in the Colne Valley
03 Mar 2021- The plans represent the biggest single landscape and habitat creation project within HS2’s Green Corridor programme
- The project will contribute towards a localised net gain in biodiversity within the Colne Valley
- 127 hectares of new chalk grassland, woodland, wood pasture and wetland habitats to be created
- 65,000 trees and shrubs of 32 species, and 3.5km of new hedgerows to be planted

Warwickshire residents and schools asked to name HS2’s Long Itchington Wood Tunnel Boring Machine
02 Mar 2021- HS2 launches competition for people in Warwickshire to name the 2,000 tonne tunnel boring machine that will dig under Long Itchington Wood
- Local schools, colleges and scouts already signed up
- Warwickshire County Council starts the ball rolling with suggestion of famous local author George Eliot
- Three shortlisted names will be put to a national public vote in the summer
