HS2 jumps ahead of carbon target as ten construction sites go completely diesel-free
06 Dec 2022- HS2 reveals that ten construction sites on the project have become 100 per cent diesel-free ahead of schedule, as the project continues to reduce its carbon emissions.
- Seven construction sites in the Chilterns and Colne Valley, and three sites in London have completely eliminated diesel from their operation – generators, welfare facilities, crawler cranes and piling rigs.
- Alongside these green wins, HS2 launches its ‘Diesel-free Plan: Building a net zero future’

Transport Secretary makes historic first journey through a completed HS2 tunnel
01 Dec 2022- Mark Harper MP, Secretary of State for Transport, joined HS2 Ltd CEO Mark Thurston for a drive-through of the first bored tunnel at Long Itchington in Warwickshire, as momentum continues to build on the project
- The 2,000 tonne TBM broke through in July after 7 months of digging the one-mile tunnel. Today marks the first time VIPs and media have been able to travel end-to-end in a tunnel on the UK’s new high speed network

Ruislip lunch and social club boosted by £42k grant from HS2 fund
30 Nov 2022- The Ruislip Northwood Old Folks Association is the first project in the Uxbridge & South Ruislip parliamentary constituency to receive funding through HS2’s Community & Environment Fund (CEF)
- The MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, Boris Johnson, visited the centre in Elm Park, Ruislip on Monday [28/11/2022] to meet volunteers behind the project
- The Ruislip Northwood Old Folks Association is the first project in the Uxbridge & South Ruislip parliamentary constituency to receive funding through HS2’s Community & Environment Fund (CEF)
