Kier wins landmark early works contract on second stage of HS2
08 Jul 2021HS2 Ltd has today (8 July) confirmed that Kier Construction Limited will be appointed to deliver a major programme of highways and utility work on Phase 2a of the project, which will take the UK’s new high speed railway north of the West Midlands.

HS2 announces new landmark as 700,000 trees planted and over 100 new habitats thriving on Phase One of the project
05 Jul 2021- 700,000 trees have been planted of the 7 million planned across the Phase One route.
- 118 environmental sites now home to a range of species including amphibians, dragonflies, otters, great crested newts, reptiles and badgers.
- HS2’s Woodland Fund has allocated over £1.2m as part of a grant scheme managed by the Forestry Commission, with another 213,000 trees planted.
