Work to install a 65-metre bridge, spanning the width of the M42, was completed in just two days and ahead of schedule as the motorway reopened to road users today (9 August) 22 hours earlier than planned. The works near Interchange Station move Solihull a step closer to the arrival of HS2, Britain’s new low carbon high speed railway.
Community groups in North Solihull are set to benefit from a £29,960 grant for the Meriden Ark Project (MAP). The initiative will support users of Meriden Park and Meriden Adventure Playground to design and create at least four sustainable wildlife havens in their local park and surrounding area.
Construction of HS2’s West London interchange station, set to be the UK’s largest newly-built railway station, has reached a new milestone as the Station Construction Partner, Balfour Beatty VINCI SYSTRA joint venture (BBVS), took possession of the whole station site on Monday 27 July 2020. The handover marks the start of the next phase of work at Old Oak Common, where a brand new 14 platform high-speed station will be built.
Lydney business Mabey Bridge is already benefiting from its contract with HS2 – Britain’s largest infrastructure project – to supply modular bridges to support construction of the UK’s new high speed, low carbon railway.
Young Londoners in Ealing will benefit from a £5,213 grant secured today (Friday 31 July) being used to provide a grassroots summer basketball coaching programme and tournament. Ball Out Community, a charity based in London, has secured the funding following its successful application to the HS2 Community and Environment Fund (CEF).
