“Apprenticeships aren’t just for teenagers. It’s never too late to start again.”

After seven years teaching at his local secondary school in Croydon, Joshua Savage decided it was time for change. He’d worked hard to get where he was, progressing up the ranks from teaching assistant to qualified PE and Science teacher. But deep down, he knew it wasn’t the job he wanted for the next thirty years.  

HS2 Ltd today invited two companies to tender for a major contract to supply, operate and maintain its elevated transit system at Solihull’s Interchange Station, following a shortlisting process.

• Progress revealed on HS2’s newest bridge near Kenilworth, Warwickshire – one of 16 ‘green’ bridges on the project
• Main construction work now complete on Stoneleigh Road structure, which is set to feature nature corridors to enable wildlife to cross over the bridge

• Civil engineering specialist MPB Structures will build the substructure for HS2’s flagship station in Birmingham
• A team of around 140 people will start delivering the works in early 2025
• Training and jobs will be available for local people
