Students from universities across the UK are moving into graduate-level jobs on HS2 aligned to the subjects they studied at university.

• Newly appointed contractor Laing O’Rourke confirms they will need up to 1,000 people to build HS2’s Interchange Station near Solihull
• 22 new apprenticeships will provide opportunities for local people with many supply chain contracts up for grabs for regional businesses

College leavers and West Midlands residents who want to start a career in construction have just one week left to sign up for HS2’s free job training programme.

The drive to support more unemployed people into skilled careers on HS2 is proving to be a success. HS2 Ltd confirmed today (1 September) that 2,200 people who were out of work have now secured a job helping to build Britain’s new railway,

HS2’s West Midlands construction partner, Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV), confirmed today (25th August) that it is joining forces with three more colleges to increase the number of industry placements it offers to T-Level students. From September, over 30 young people in Solihull, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall will get to play a part in HS2’s construction as part of their studies.
