Plans to extend Britain’s new high speed railway from the Midlands to the North took a giant leap forward this week as HS2 Ltd announced that it has begun the search for a team of specialist ground investigation contractors.

HS2 Ltd has today (8 July) confirmed that Kier Construction Limited will be appointed to deliver a major programme of highways and utility work on Phase 2a of the project, which will take the UK’s new high speed railway north of the West Midlands.

On the one-year anniversary of the Government’s Plan for Jobs, HS2 Ltd has announced that the project has reached another major milestone in its bid to build a lasting legacy of skills and education in the UK.

HS2 Minister Andrew Stephenson is hosting an online event for small and medium sized businesses in the South West to demonstrate just how simple it is to register an interest in joining HS2’s supply chain.
