HS2 today opened a new relief road around the village of Chipping Warden in Northamptonshire, allowing construction vehicles – and other through traffic – to avoid the centre of the village and the local primary school.

• The search starts today to find the name for the 2,000 tonne Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) that will dig under Long Itchington Wood in Warwickshire.
• The British public are asked to choose from three shortlisted names nominated by people in Warwickshire.
• The TBM will launch later this year and start its one year journey to create a one-mile twin bore tunnel to preserve ancient woodland above ground.
